Configuring the App to Include Audio when Video Recording
Capturing the right scene for your recording and adding audio commentary to it is a great way to add value and information to your captures. In use cases such as sales, having the ability to capture and record audio to go with your screen capture allows you to connect better with your clients.
For Mac users: System audio recording is only available in macOS Ventura or later.
Start capturing the section of your screen you'd like to record by either selecting Start Capture from the VideoCom Capture icon in the taskbar, or by hitting your configured hotkey.
A prompt will ask you to take a screenshot or start recording a video, where you can select Record a Video.
You may select a part of your screen to adjust which part you'll record, or click on the icon to toggle the selection to record the entire screen.
Clicking on the top left video icon will then initiate the recording.
To be able to use your microphone with VideoCom Capture, you want to first ensure that your computer detects it. Here are some things check to ensure your mic is properly installed.
Plug in your microphone into your computer, whether this is via USB or a microphone jack.
Go into Windows Sound settings and under Input, make sure your mic shows up and is selected.
Test your microphone and make sure the bar is picking up your voice.
Once you're all set in Windows, check to see that the microphone is showing up (and registering sounds) in Capture by looking at the microphone icon and clicking on the submenu arrow beside it.
When you're ready to record both the video and your microphone audio, click on the record icon to begin.
For best results in your video captures, it's always a good idea to make sure you're using your microphone and environment well to ensure your audience can hear you clearly. Here are a few tips to get you started:
Your environment is everything. Even if you have the most expensive microphone you can buy, it can't save your audio from a noisy recording space. Try and minimize loud things in your area like fans, a clicky keyboard, and by putting your phone on silent while you're recording.
Practice good microphone habits. Make sure you're speaking into the correct part of your microphone, keep it a few inches away from your mouth and nose, and use tools like a pop filter or windscreen to reduce unwanted noises while you speak.
Speak slowly and clearly. This is especially important if you're recording a demonstration or instructions.
And last but not least, practice. We've tried to make it easy to make recordings with VideoCom Capture so you can easily recover from mistakes and try again.
